Garibaldi and Tillamook County is famous for its fishing, both in the ocean and in our many nearby lakes and rivers. Launching from the Port of Garibaldi, you can find some of the finest deep-sea and fresh-water fishing, charter and dory boats, clamming and crabbing on the Oregon Coast.
Ocean salmon can be caught in July and August, depending on ocean conditions and state regulations. Local charter boats can take you out for deep-sea fishing for halibut, tuna, ling cod, rock fish and sea trout.
Local rivers and lakes are also hugely popular fishing destinations.
Fall Chinook range in size from 20 to 50 pounds and the season begins in the bays and ocean in September and October moving inland as the fish migrate. An early species of fall Chinook enters Nehalem Bay in July and August. Tillamook Bay is well known for its huge fall Chinook. Most rivers have spring Chinook that average 12 to 16 pounds. Winter steelhead fishing is good from January through April.
